This section describes everything from who leads the church, to what you can expect in a regular meeting. We would also encourage you to read through our vision and values so you get a bit more of an idea what we are about as a community and what drives us. Be blessed!
Where to find us!
Woodville Baptist Church is located on Crwys Road, opposite the Crwys pub and next door to the Spar.
When you first come to Woody, you’ll probably have plenty of questions about what goes on, what we believe, how things work, how to get to know people and so on. You’ll find a lot of this on the website, but here are a couple of immediate suggestions to start you off. Firstly say hello to the person who welcomes you at the door on a Sunday morning – they’re there to help you! Secondly, tell them you’d like to come to a welcome meal – and give them your contact details! We plan to hold these fairly regularly and their purpose is to help you get to know other people who are new to Woody as well as finding out a bit more about us. Thirdly – join a home group or student cell. It’s not easy to get to know over 100 people on a Sunday morning! – and the small groups are a great way to get to make friends, and grow in your faith.
Sue and I have found Woody to be a warm, welcoming fellowship. It’s a community of vibrant faith and worship, and a predominantly young church – a church that’s passionate in its commitment to Christ and to the gospel, but which doesn’t take itself too seriously.
We’ve found Woody a good place to be, and we hope you will too.
Our Woody vision is to be a church family,
embracing all kinds of diversity but united in Christ,
vibrant with the presence of God;
welcoming and winning people for Christ,
discipling one another to be
reshaped through following Jesus,
built up in our faith,
equipped and sent out
to declare and demonstrate the love of Christ
in the power of the Holy Spirit.
We aim both to be an effective witness for Christ where we are,
and a resource for the Christian church
in the UK and around the world
where the people of Woody will serve.
It’s no small vision, and it will take no small faith, commitment, prayer, love and hard work to realise it. It will take all of us to get there – think of this as a tandem bicycle where all of us need to pedal, not as a train where most of us can be passengers!! And it will not happen overnight – it’s a long-term goal. But it’s a vision for a church that will magnetically express the life of Jesus in a world that desperately needs Him. We think it’s worth battling for, and we hope you will too. David.
