Woodville Baptist Church

Elders

Chris Collins

I have lived in Cardiff all my life and been at Woody since 1987, following a call from God to start a youth work here.  I have been a member of the eldership team for the last 12 years. I married Jan in 1977, all of which makes me sound very old, so I guess I must be!  We have 2 beautiful daughters, Laura and Hannah, both in their 20s.  I work for Newport City Council as a manager in the supported housing section.

My passions in the kingdom are for authentic worship, enabling God’s people  to use the gifts of the Holy Spirit and to see God impact non-Christians with His love and power. I love expounding the Bible, but at present I feel I am in a time of learning more about moving in the prophetic.

Reflecting this, my specific leadership responsibilities include Exalt and HOTS.

Gerwyn & Ruth Miles

Gerwyn: I have been involved in leadership at Woody for over 30 years, more recently as an Elder, and am married to Ruth.  I am currently on sabbatical due to return to in Easter 2011 (if they’ll have me).  My main desire is to see Woody become a living demonstration of God’s Kingdom, expressing the full richness of what it is to be God’s children.

Ruth: I have lived in Cardiff since coming to uni aged 18.  I’m married to Gerwyn and we have three sons. My heart is to see men, women and children in Woody living in a deepening relationship with God, reaching their full potential in Him and demonstrating the love of Jesus to the people of Cathays.  My particular desire is to see women at Woody empowered and released into the purposes that God has for them.  I am a home group leader and am involved in prayer ministry, women’s ministry, Healing on the Streets and Foodbank.

Rodney Davis

I’ve been a member of Woody for 7 years, and an elder since 2009.  I’m married to Jill and we have two lovely, lively children. Outside of Woody I teach Biology at a local secondary school.
