Church
Mission Statement
The
Church Meeting held on 12th February 2004 adopted the following Mission
Statement:-
A
community doing all it takes to follow Jesus
and make Him known.
Community
- a group of believers, called together by God, committed to one another,
developing meaningful relationships, seeking to work together to serve
God as he directs and equips through the power of His Spirit.
"All
the believers were together and had everything in common" (Acts 2.44)
Doing
all it takes - Dreaming dreams, taking risks and learning from
our mistakes, whilst keeping our eyes on the bigger picture.
"No
eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared
for those who love him" (1 Corinthians 2:9)
Following
Jesus - Seeking to live as Jesus desires by following his example,
learning from his word and being open to his Spirit.
"Loving
the Lord our God with all our hearts and with all our souls and with all
our minds; and loving our neighbour as ourselves" (Matthew 22:37-39)
Making
Him known - Fulfilling the Great Commission, through witness
and mission, and ongoing teaching and discipleship.
"Going
into all the world, making disciples, baptising them and teaching them
the commands of Jesus with the help of his Spirit" (Matthew 28: 18-20)
The
mission statement above is based on the five key purposes of the church
found particularly in Acts 2:42-47:-
